OPERATION OF THE LUBRICATION SYSTEM
1. The oil flows from the case of the carter collector (drain), in the bottom of the motor, to the oil pump, and after to the oil coolant.
2. The oil is cooled here by the motor coolant.
3. Then the oil travels through the oil filters, where debris and contaminants are extracted.
4. Then, the clean oil is moved towards the inner part of the oil manifold where it spreads out taking two different directions:
- Towards the inner part of the motor in order to lubricate the components, such as the bearings, gears, pistons, sleeves, valves, etc.
- And a smaller part flows directly into the turbocharger.
The oil goes back to the carter collector (drain) to once again begin the cycle. A bypass valve in the base of the filter allows the oil to deviate through a closed filter so that the motor always has some oil. When the oil is cold, the bypass valve makes the oil deviate around the coolant during the start up.
